History-Honda

Honda started making cars in **1963** with the production of the **T360 small pickup truck**³. Shortly after, they introduced their first production car, the **S500 sports car**.

Honda Motor Company was founded in 1948 by Soichiro Honda1. Initially, Honda started as a manufacturer of motorized bicycles. The company quickly expanded its product line and began producing motorcycles, becoming the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer by 1959.

In 1963, Honda entered the automobile market with the production of the T360 small pickup truck and the S500 sports car. Over the years, Honda has introduced several iconic models, including the Civic and Accord, which have become popular worldwide.

In 1986, Honda became the first Japanese automaker to launch a dedicated luxury brand, Acura. This move helped Honda establish a strong presence in the luxury car market.

Honda has also been a pioneer in developing environmentally friendly vehicles. The company introduced the Insight, the first hybrid car sold in the United States, in 1999. Honda continues to innovate in the field of electric and hybrid vehicles, with models like the Clarity series.

Today, Honda is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.




POPULAR MODELS BY DECADE

1950-59 Honda did not have any popular car models in the UK during the 1950s. In fact, Honda’s first car, the T360, was introduced in the 1960s. The company primarily focused on motorcycles during the 1950s and only began producing cars later on.           


1970-79 During the 1970s, the most popular Honda model in the UK was the Honda Civic. The Civic was introduced in 1972 and quickly became a hit due to its compact size, fuel efficiency, and reliability. It was the right car at the right time, especially during the oil crisis of the 1970s, which made fuel-efficient cars more desirable.           



1990-99 During the 1990s, the Honda Civic continued to be a popular model in the UK. Another standout model from that decade was the Honda Accord. Both models were known for their reliability, fuel efficiency, and overall performance, making them favorites among UK drivers.
